Program Description

We are seeking an Investment Banking Analyst to join our Global Center in Budapest, with a strong skillset, motivation and commitment to building a long-term career in Investment Banking. In this role, you will provide critical support for deal execution, develop marketing materials such as pitchbooks, perform research and analytics, and assist with internal processes for Investment Banking Coverage and Product teams across EMEA. You will work on a wide range of corporate transactions and take on significant responsibilities. The nature of the work is both demanding and rewarding, as you will become a key team member across highly varied assignments for global and European corporate clients of the Firm.

Prior to commencement of your full-time position, you will participate in comprehensive on-site training focused on financial analysis, business presentations, and practical skills. This program will equip you with a strong understanding of financial concepts and the Morgan Stanley culture. You will gain exposure to financial markets and macroeconomic trends, deepen your knowledge of banking and capital markets products, and develop a network with teams in London and across the broader EMEA region.

Investment Banking Analyst Training Program

The Investment Banking Analyst Training Program begins in August with three weeks of intensive training held in our Budapest office, combining business presentations, practical sessions, and presenting multiple opportunities to network, exchange ideas and learn from your peers. The Program includes an induction into the Firm, our values and culture, followed by specific investment banking training covering accounting, valuation, advanced modelling, Morgan Stanley's proprietary analytical tools, information technology and financial products. At the end of training, you will have improved your knowledge of financial concepts, enhanced your technical skills, and formed a strong understanding of the Morgan Stanley culture.

Following successful completion of the Program, you will undergo a period of work shadowing in our EMEA Headquarters in London, where you will be able to learn more the day-to-day practicalities of the role, functioning of the business, and build relationships with your London partners.

As part of your responsibilities, you will:

  • Work closely with team members across the Investment Banking Division to provide a differentiated level of support to our client coverage and assignments including internal management
  • Prepare marketing materials including pitchbooks, information memoranda, roadshow presentations, analyst presentations, and company profiles, among others
  • Perform financial analysis, including operational and financial benchmarking, capital structure analysis, acquisition capacity analysis, among others, with specific focus on developing strong independent judgement and interpretation of financial data
  • Work on corporate valuation tasks, including development of financial models and relative valuation frameworks
  • Gather and synthesize financial and operating information about companies and industries to analyze performance and drive strategic client dialogue
  • Develop macroeconomic and industry overviews with deep understanding and clear presentation of key trends and themes, economic indicators, competitive environments, among others
  • Prepare presentations and memoranda for senior stakeholders within the Firm
  • Analyze and interpret business requirements to identify automation opportunities and process improvement areas.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications and characteristics:

  • BSc or MSc in a quantitative field/finance (e.g. finance, economics or engineering)
  • 0 - 1 years of work experience, preferably in a related field
  • Keen interest in corporate finance / capital markets
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills, with professional and fluent command of other languages seen as an advantage
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, experience working with and interpreting financial data
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, cultural awareness and professional attitude to collaborate effectively with our global teams
  • Agility and ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong performance under pressure and against tight deadlines, with focus on results, prioritization and stakeholder management
  • Deep attention to detail
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas simply and summarize effectively
  • Commitment to excellence in your work and maintaining high professional and ethical standards
