Position Summary:
We are seeking a high potential Business Support Manager to support and collaborate with the Ultra High Net Worth (“UHNW”) Lending business unit (BU) and COO Team serving UHNW clients (generally clients with a minimum net worth of at least $50 million) of WM. The role is for the Mumbai, India office and will partner with the US based UHNW team members. The goal of the position is to manage a team of business support analysts/associates covering various Business and COO responsibilities related to (but not limited to) the deal origination process, loan servicing, taxes and insurance management, business and regulatory reporting, data entry and analytics, covenant maintenance and monitoring, document collection and technology developments. These responsibilities will be transferred offshore in a phased approach beginning with taxes and insurance. In this role, the candidate will be expected to liaise between insurance agents, taxing authorities and the Business Unit to protect the portfolio collateral.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Manage the loan servicing of insurance and property taxes for the Morgan Stanley Private Bank’s UHNW CRE Lending team.

  • Ensure all insurance policies and property tax obligations of the diverse portfolio are managed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with loan agreements and regulatory requirements
  • Outreach to insurance brokers to request renewal insurance certificates, review insurance certificates to ensure compliance with coverage requirements, update loan systems for coverage compliance, escalate issues as appropriate, and provide reporting on past due payments.
  • Ensure property taxes are paid as verified on the municipality website, update loan systems for compliance, escalate issues as appropriate, and provide reporting on past due payments.
  • Engage in ongoing portfolio reporting and ensure accurate and timely updates of loan portfolio metrics.

Other areas of responsibility include:

  • Assisting with covenant and collateral monitoring data entry, maintenance, document collection and override reviews.
  • Assisting with daily operating activities including (1) Verifying and attesting to credit facility compliance with regulations, including Regulation O, U, V, and W, (2) Reviewing loan documentation for completeness, (3) Verifying credit facility files including a credit facility closing checklist, pricing approvals, business escalation approvals, credit facility documents, etc.
  • Completing various business and regulatory related reporting including (1) pipeline, production and portfolio reporting; (2) HMDA, Reg B, Red Flags, CCAR and International Recons, and (3) producing metric reporting materials for MBR meeting.
  • Handling loan servicing related requests such as creating and/or reviewing DocuSign envelopes, Intralinks folder setup, confirming loan details, wire disbursements, incoming principal, interest and/or fee payments, payoff quotes, and generate FX loan statements

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s/Bachelor’s Degree (in Finance or Economics) required;
  • 9+ years of work experience in financial services, private banking and lending and/or real estate management
  • Knowledge of commercial property insurance requirements is a plus
  • Experience in managing, leading and developing a team of 5-8 people in a global organization
  • Experience at a global organization handling multiple priorities and different time zones
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate both verbally and in writing in a clear and professional manner;
  • Critical thinking with the ability to evaluate data and make sound judgements; knowing when to escalate / ask questions
  • Detail orientated in ensuring accuracy and completeness of all tasks
  • Exceptional data and analytical skills; project management experience preferred
  • Organization, time management, and multi-task abilities to meet deadlines and manage internal/external expectations.
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills to achieve common goals
  • A positive and energetic attitude with a desire to acquire new knowledge and skills.
