Department Profile:
The Fixed Income Division (FID) is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Corporate Credit, Muni Products, and Securitized Product Group. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Municipality Division is a market leader across a broad range of markets, with expertise in areas including Sales & Trading, Muni Capital Solutions, Muni Capital Markets, and Public Finance.
Job Description:
Join us in building the next generation of large-scale, bond-electronic trading systems powered by advanced neural networks. We’ve already deployed Version 1 and are actively developing Version 2. We’re looking for someone to help lead this evolution.
What You’ll Do:
- Drive the development, optimization, and monitoring of bond-trading algorithms using machine learning and quantitative methods.
- Analyze and track profit and loss (P&L) to identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce risk.
- Design, build, and maintain intuitive dashboards and web-based tools to visualize trading activity, financial exposure, and portfolio performance in real time.
- Collaborate directly with traders to transform data-driven insights into actionable trading strategies.
- Work on hedging frameworks, portfolio composition, and strategy evaluation using large-scale market and transaction data.
- Continuously test hypotheses, measure outcomes, and iterate toward higher alpha and efficiency.

Required Skills:
- MFE degree and/or of 3+ years’ experience working as a desk strategist/quant
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or equivalent
- Working knowledge of probability / statistics
- Enjoy telling stories with data
- Knowledge of financial instruments such as bond, TRS and futures
- Excellent sense of humour
- Experience with python, pandas, numpy and Javascript
Beneficial Skills:
- Knowledge of kdb
- Machine learning algorithms such as random forest and logistic regression
- knowledge of American Football and golf very helpful, (ice hockey also gets a pass)

Expected base pay rates for the role will be $150,000 to $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
