The MSWM Equity Trading desk oversees all brokerage and branch advisory (PM & CGA) equity trading, domestically and internationally. The desk is available to advisors for all equity trading related issues, including guidance on trade details, understanding the complexity of the equity markets, and working larger orders to obtain best execution.
Responsibilities
- The primary function is to act as an Associate responsible for engaging with Financial Advisors and Portfolio Managers in the execution of their orders.
- Responsible for giving market color and guidance, while implementing different trading strategies to execute trades.
- Be able to negotiate and execute at the best price for the client. Have knowledge about all asset classes within Equity trading.
- Have a deep understanding of trading algorithms and how to apply them to execution.
- Will represent the client and protect trade orders for the customer during the entire trade cycle.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Licenses: Series 7, 66, and 57 within three months of hire
- 3-5 years of experience on a trading desk preferred with an interest in equity markets
Skills/Abilities
- Strong verbal communication skills - Must be client service oriented with the ability to provide active dialogue with FA’s and PM’s as well as sales traders who are using the products.
- Confidence to have constant dialogue with internal and external clients; as well as to communicate with senior management
- Ability to manage a fast-paced environment and multi-tasking – execution trading requires diligence and quick, effective decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks/activities
- An entrepreneurial spirit centered around growth
- Fundamental and Technical understanding of market dynamics

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $185,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
