The Global Intelligence Organization:
The Tax Operations Manager plays a lead role in delivering our Global Intelligence and Tax products and services to our current and prospective clients. The role requires development into a subject matter expert in global tax and tax mobility for global share plans and an expert in Global Intelligence and Shareworks tax tools. The role focuses on deep technical knowledge of the Shareworks tax tools, supporting multi-national clients on our suite of product offerings, and the opportunity to support our sales and internal teams across the business, while providing leadership and support for other team members, including identifying process improvements and best practices, and making prioritization decisions on client work and issue resolution
Our ideal candidate has strong planning and organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and lead the work of a group of teammates, is technically savvy, with strong communication skills and likes to work through challenges. You have a passion for solving problems and simplifying complicated scenarios, including creating repeatable processes that help yourself and others ensure consistent results. You are skilled at empowering your team to manage complex issues, and helping them be successful. A knowledge of employee share plans, global tax, and tax mobility would be beneficial. You have a deep belief in team success, a willingness to adapt to continuous change, and a desire to take ownership over responsibilities. You also have a demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders.
The Tax Intelligence Specialist:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the tax rate management service – planning, coordinating and executing on changes to tax rates for GI clients, to ensure accurate and on time application of tax rate and position updates.
- Provide leadership/guidance for team members, including prioritizing client work and developing project plans to manage team deliverables.
- Troubleshooting customer issues and supporting the Platform Engineering, Product and Service teams in getting quick solutions.
- Identify and document best practices and procedures for team members, to ensure efficient, accurate and repeatable results for our clients
- Plan and lead data maintenance and migration activities as needed.
- Ensure that team members’ work meets defined standards for accuracy and timeliness.
- Support requests for Tax Engine support from other groups across the organization, to aid the organization in standardizing on the Tax Engine.
- Become a deep subject matter expert on the Global Intelligence application and be able to support the product and associate teams.
Additional Skills & Responsibilities
- Become an expert in understanding the Shareworks tax tool functionality and Global Intelligence Platform.
- Become an expert in the Shareworks and EEO tax rate update process flows and procedures.
- Be able to plan out large projects and communicate the details of plans to the team and stakeholders, to get understanding and buy in.
- Keep stakeholders and team members updated on progress toward agreed plans, including proactively communicating delays and ensuring affected parties understand current status
- Build on best practices, procedures, and processes to ensure world class customer delivery
- Feeding client requirements and market trends into the Shareworks development roadmap to ensure Shareworks remains a disruptive force with leading technology in the regulatory, compliance, and tax space, including:
- Identifying product bugs and/or errors when implementing new clients
- Thoroughly reviewing content, with attention to detail, to confirm information in the platform
- Support internal teams across Morgan Stanley in relation to new or existing functionality to allow for more widespread client support of the tax engine, including providing training on configuration steps and best practices and troubleshooting issues.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or similar area of focus
- Highly tech-oriented person capable of understanding complexities of Software as a Service (SaaS)
- Incredible attention to detail
- Practical experience, preferably in financial services, tax industry or equity compensation.
- Fluency in both oral and written English is required; additional spoken and written languages are an asset.
- Team player mentality and place a high value on building strong relationships
- Comfortable delivering effective presentations to a variety of audiences at all levels across different media and deploying differing styles
- Demonstrated competency with common technology and technical concepts, including: Software as a Service (SaaS), Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Shareworks is an asset.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced and evolving environment which includes ongoing learning and training opportunities.
