Technology/Role/Department at Morgan Stanley

OpsTech is the enterprise technology group driving operational excellence through platform modernization, data strategy, and process automation. It fosters engineering excellence via guild participation, SME development, and resilient systems aligned with regulatory and business needs. JRR Tech (Japan Regulatory Reporting Technology), a specialized team within OpsTech, builds and maintains high-volume regulatory reporting platforms using a cloud-based tech stack including Snowflake, Databricks. The team handles complex legal ledger integrations and big data pipelines to support Japan-specific regulatory obligations.

Primary Responsibilities
We are looking for a senior developer with 5-10 years of experience who can contribute in the Japan regulatory reporting strategic platform renovation to establish a robust and flexible platform on Hadoop and Cloud infrastructure to support the regulatory reporting business functions owned by Japan Operations. This platform is designed to replace the existing bespoke local applications as well as legacy mainframe processes and have direct dependency to the Morgan Stanley's firm-wide global legacy modernization initiative. Required Skills :

> Advanced developer with 4-6 years of experience with below qualifications.
> The candidate should be a developer with working experience in Java application development. The candidate should have good communication skills, problem solving skills and business analysis skills.
> Strong proficiency in Core JAVA / J2EE and understanding OOP
> Good knowledge on common Java frameworks and technologies, including Spring Framework, Hibernate / JPA.
> Experience on web services, including knowledge of REST / SOAP / XML/ JSON
> Web UI experience using HTML5, JavaScript or Angular is preferred.
> Strong data analytical skills (SQL)
> Strong oral and written communication skills
> Excellent interpersonal skills and professional approach
> Financial industry knowledge is preferred.
> Knowledge of trades data, positions data, reference data.
> Familiar with Linux / Unix environment, including working with shell, ssh and / or other command line tools.
> Experience working in medium to large-scale development projects
> Experience with Cloud native technologies is highly preferred
> Experience with BigData design/development with Spark ecosystem is highly preferred
> Experience in modern DevOps SDLC process (e.g. CI/CD pipeline, testing automation) and Agile practices (Kanban/Scrum)
