US Tax Reporting – Associate


We're seeking someone to join our US reporting team as an Associate in Glasgow tax to prepare Federal, and State and Local Tax returns, in addition to supplementary adjustments, tax payments and tax provision calculations.

In the Finance division, we act as a partner to business units around the globe by providing management, review, analysis and advisory services of the Firm’s financial and capital resources. This is an Associate within our Tax & Advisory job family which ensures compliance with income and indirect tax filings, reports tax information for the Firm’s regulatory filings, manages the Firm’s global tax authority relationships, including tax controversy and monitors relevant tax regulations and legislation. Additional responsibilities include managing the Firm’s domestic and international tax strategies, determining the Firm’s transfer pricing policies and advising Senior Management and BUs on business products, strategic transactions and restructuring objectives.

What you'll do in the role:

- Collaborate with a varied group of colleagues in Finance and across the Firm

- Responsible for both individual and team deliverables and projects, leveraging knowledge of Finance functional area, tools and/or products

- Adhere to the Firm’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls

- Act as a culture carrier; embody the Firm's values and hold yourself accountable to Firm standards

- Prepare tax returns and tax return work papers for multiple legal entities across different businesses

- Perform reconciliations to support the Firm's regulatory signoff tool at Account and company level detail

- Prepare Tax Notices to support the Tax return

- Collect data and prepare estimates and Tax extension calculations to support U.S. Tax for Federal and State and Local tax returns for the Firm's legal entities

- Perform ad-hoc tasks to accurately file documentation for Tax returns

- Prepare tax accounting calculations and work papers in accordance with ASC 740

What you'll bring to the role:

- Working knowledge of Finance functional area, industry and competitive environment

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, and adapt to various audiences

- Willingness to seek guidance and provide feedback to further develop self and peers

- Educated to degree level, or equivalent preferably in finance or accountancy

- Knowledge of US GAAP/ US Tax Regulations is advantageous but not essential

- Ability to think critically and self-review

- Ability to prioritise workload and communicate to stakeholders

- Self-motivated, with a desire to succeed and develop professionally and personally

- Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment and be a team player

- Confident working with colleagues in worldwide business locations

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial systems, in particular Excel

- Awareness of deadlines and ability to prioritise workload

- At least 2 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role
