Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (WM) Operational Risk:

The Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Operational Risk group is responsible for overseeing the operational risk and control framework across the Wealth Management business. This team partners with key stakeholders throughout the organization to execute independent risk monitoring functions, support process and control improvement, provide tactical and strategic reporting, execute incident management protocols, facilitate issue and action plan management and coordinate new operational risk programs in partnership with the business as well as Firm Operational Risk Management.

Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Vice President / Jr. Vice President to join the Wealth Management Business Resilience team in our Budapest office as part of a growing center of excellence. This role plays a critical part in executing our business resilience strategy by partnering with global stakeholders to assess, enhance, and operationalize key stability and contingency controls.

The successful candidate will bring strong risk management experience, technology fluency, and the ability to work across business and infrastructure teams to identify potential risks, proposed solutions, and drive execution of stability initiatives. This individual will build strong relationships with business partners, technology owners, operations teams, and suppliers. They will partner with relevant teams to ensure compliance with Firm requirements and standards and further enhance the Wealth Management specific framework. They will assist with efforts to ensure stability risks to critical business functions are documented and mitigated. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong risk management judgment and expertise working with critical infrastructure and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with global and regional stakeholders, including business, technology and risk partners.

  • Support the implementation of the Wealth Management business resilience and stability strategy across core functions.

  • Identify, socialize, and manage operational and business stability risks across processes and platforms.

  • Analyze infrastructure and operational outage scenarios and report on business impact.

  • Develop solutions and contingency strategies to ensure continuity of service and minimal disruption.

  • Proposed enhancements to existing controls and frameworks to align with global resilience standards.

  • Provide insights into root causes of incidents and recommend sustainable risk mitigation measures.

  • Track emerging risks and contribute to playbooks for resilience scenarios.

  • Maintain awareness of global regulatory developments related to business resilience.

  • Collaborate with U.S. counterparts to ensure global consistency and knowledge transfer.

Skills and Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in operational risk, business continuity, or resilience, preferably within Wealth Management, retail brokerage, or financial services.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently assess risk and propose solutions.

  • Proven track record managing multiple workstreams and delivering results under tight deadlines.

  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; able to influence stakeholders across functions and regions.

  • Familiarity with critical infrastructure, third-party dependencies, and risk management frameworks.

  • Experience with data analysis tools, Microsoft Office, and collaboration platforms (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint etc.).

  • Agile, proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
